Frequently Asked Questions
about costs and insurance coverage.

How much does this program cost?

A typical person will pay $500 for their individual evaluation and group participation in Phase 1 of our program. Those wishing to continue in a weekly support group will pay more. However, substantial discounts, up to 25% of your total cost, are available for you, if you wish to commit to regular attendance at our Phase 2 support group to help reach your goal.

Are there any other discounts available?

Yes. Family members enrolling together receive an additional 10% discount.

Does insurance cover these costs?

In our experience, health plans that include a Health Savings Account option generally will reimburse you for our services. Other insurance plans, including Medicare, generally will not reimburse for physician time spent educating and supervising patients for effective weight loss.

Are there other costs?

We usually require laboratory tests. We will send you to whichever local laboratory, hospital, or primary care office you prefer for these tests. That facility will bill your insurance directly and these are usually covered.

What about other materials?

We suggest that you purchase one of our books. You may purchase this at our office, from a local bookstore, or a health-food store.

Do you charge for food or supplements?

No. We do not sell any food or supplements! We teach you about real food, which you buy and prepare yourself. We may provide recommendations for vitamins, minerals, and fiber which are available at low cost any pharmacy.

What if I cannot pay for this program all at once?

We offer multiple options. We also always accept standard (Visa or Mastercard) credit card payments. We will make special accommodations for those in genuine financial distress, particularly when their weight problems are causing significant problems in their life.

What if I have absolutely no resources?

For those truly in need, Dr. Cohen works as a volunteer at the Marian Clinic and has helped many people at that facility. For those eligible, they may participate in that program at no cost.
